Community Gardens Harvest Festival
The 42nd Annual Community Harvest will be held in Kensington Aug 21-26, 2009
The local festival provides activities for young and old, highlighted by the Aliant mammoth street parade on Saturday which attracts over one hundred entries and draws thousands of on lookers.
Following the parade entertainment and BBQ’s, sampling and booth displays are open to the public as well as, the team penning competition running throughout the day on Community Gardens Grounds.
Sunday is the official opening of the Festival, also included in the days events is he youth talent competition, the Prince County Fiddlers and a Dog Agility show.
Monday brings a day full of Children’s activities ranging from a Fishing Derby, tug of war, potato sack racing and much more. The evening features the Miss Community Gardens pageant talent portion along with local entertainment.
Tuesday’s events include an activity center for kids, face painting, balloon animals and entertainment in the afternoon and new to the evening entertainment will be Ian Stewart Hypnotist to complement the pageant.
Wednesday, the ever popular potato decorating contest concludes the children’s activities while the crowning of Miss Community Gardens officially ends this years festival.
