Canada Day celebrations are an annual event hosted by the Town of Kensington at the Historic Train Station Rail Yards.  Each year residents and visitors alike come out to enjoy local entertainment and celebrate Canada’s Birthday in style.

The activities start in the late morning with a Children’s Entertainer or a Children’s Step Dancing routine.  This gives an opportunity for everyone to join in prior to the Opening Ceremonies and experience the best local talent Kensington has to offer!

Opening Ceremonies begin with the march of the Colour Party, which is represented by the local Kensington Legion, Branch #9, while the Canada Flag is raised to the singing of the National Anthem. Greetings are delivered by the Federal Member of Parliament for the riding, the Provincial Member of the Legislative Assembly and the Mayor of the Town of Kensington.  The Volunteer and Youth of the Year awards are presented to two very deserving individuals in the Town of Kensington. The final activity for the ceremonies is to cut Canada’s Birthday Cake!

Everyone then enjoys a free BBQ and some Birthday Cake while local musicians and dancers perform on the gazebo. There is a wide variety of children’s activities from face painting, Canada Day trivia, craft tables and more! The EVK Memorial Swimming Pool’s grand opening follows the Canada Day activities.

Wear your best red and white and come out to join us this year for a full day of family oriented activities.
